For many years, A Cut Above was the exclusive salon in Fonda, New York. Recently, Jodie Gualano, the owner of the salon, found herself frequently complaining to the other stylist about how they needed change, the salon needed change, and their business needed change. Long story short, CHANgES Studio is a new and exciting place to not only get a haircut, and purchase Mary Kay and beauty items, but to host parties, participate in community yoga or zumba, or perhaps participate in an evening of painting and wine sipping.
Evening paint adventures include everything the aspiring artist needs to go home with a masterpiece of their own. Jodie walks the group through a guiding painting. In honor of the upcoming Fourth of July celebrations, a special painting event creatively titled Paint it Forward, was held at the local VFW, to benefit homeless veterans. Artists donated $35 to cover supplies, and proceeds were donated to local shelters for nearly 200 veterans in our area.
We had two paintings to choose from: Lady Liberty, or an American Flag, both in front of a sky of fireworks. Jon, Lauren and I chose the Statue of Liberty. Without discussing it, Lauren and I both opted out of the sky of fireworks.
I love how we all had different styles, and our individual personalities shined through. I can’t wait to attend another painting event!
